It is a fact that most of the people here are probably prepared for violence. Most have probably already written off the thralls as mere objects. Many are likely prepared to do whatever it takes to survive in this place. But not her. She is definitely behind her classmates in a lot of ways. She should probably change her thinking. It's the logical thing to do. The sensible thing.
