While he had a honest healthy respect for the vampire and how he could kill him without a thought, at the same time, Bones was just a teddy bear underneath, he was sure of it. The fact the man knew his limits enough to make sure he was well fed so he doesn't chomp down on every human he helps is a testament to it honestly.
