The fact that Bones doesn't laugh at him is reassuring, because he knows they are lofty goals, ones that he's already trying to figure out the fastest way to achieve. He has things he needs to do and he wants to start doing something about them now instead of later. But he knows he needs to be patient, he has forever to do it, but he knows these changes are going to be slow coming, so he has to be careful with them.

He's not even offended when it's called crazy, because Bones is similar enough in goal from what little he heard that.. well, he thinks he can hear the compliment in the phrasing.
