Maybe he doesn't wave off the comment about next time because there is actual hope for a next time. Kirk definitely hopes so, the doctor's lips were softer than he expected and he would love to kiss him again, properly this time. With permission of course, he promised he would ask next time and if there is one thing that Jim Kirk does, it's keep his promises. He wont be killing Bones again without verbal consent. Or Bones kissing him first.
