For someone that doesn't really take a ton of time with his hair, it'd still be a lot more than he's used to! He's used to girls taking a lot of care with their hair, but that's mostly because he... hadn't really ran into any men with long hair before now, that's all. But he's actually quite content being like this, it's kind of relaxing in a weird sort of way to just run a brush through his hair.
