Test Drive Meme - New Blood
DEC TEST DRIVE MEME
Welcome to the Undying Court Test Drive Meme! This post will allow players to test drive their AU characters in the setting, as well as meet fresh faces or even connect with those they have preexisting CR with. As with anything involved in the setting, this post will likely contain: violence, enthrallment, torture, and sexual content.
Regarding continuity, all TDM threads can be taken as in-game canon if desired. Please keep in mind that the game proper will begin in mid December, in the Winter Season, so Students/Novices should create their prompts under the assumption that the TDM takes place during the season prior to the one they will be apping as. This means that students planning to app as first season novices will be visiting Castle Courtsheart prior to their Beginning. In other words, if you plan to app a student as a second season, the TDM will take place during their first, and so on.
Feel free to brush up on the Premise, Vampire Powers, and head over to the FAQ/Game Info page if you have any questions!

New arrivals will be starting their first season in the winter, but they're welcomed to the castle early, under the watchful eyes of the Silver Court. Upon arrival, they will be shown to a room by a human whose eyes glow softly from within, with vacant smiles. Thralls. There, the human thralls will draw them a bath and bring them new clothes to wear to their first meeting. These are rich, expensive things made of high quality fabric. Whether it's a silk dress and a heavy velvet cowl, or a fine pants and a vest made from a brocade, the servants will provide. The new initiate's old clothes will be burned after, in a symbol of the life they are leaving behind. If they are hungry, they will be provided food. If they need anything at all, they need only ask their new servants.
Later that night they are taken to a grand hall, with high arched ceilings and candles burning in chandeliers. There are figures painted overhead, beautiful and entwined. Some have their eyes are colored to match the courts, others are gracefully placed in their death, with blood dripping from necks and wrists.
Balconies line the hall behind a forest of pillars, and vampires all watch as the group walk through (some more hungrily than others).
"Welcome to your first undying season, initiates," a pale, silver-haired vampire calls. They have silver eyes are clad in silver robes, but command the attention of everyone in attendance. They have a beauty that seems neither male nor female. They are standing at the center of a wide semi-circle of other vampires, "As the Silver Court's acting voice at this end of the Autumn season, allow me to introduce you to the Houses that will be your new homes."
The vampire, Revar, gives the newcomers an overview of all of the courts—Blue, Red, Gold, Silver, and Black—and then invites those already claimed by their Courts to join the vampires who will be their Makers.
Revar offers the Foundlings who are left a gentle, knowing smile, and then allows them to be chosen. They are like the last sheep left at the auction, and the vampires who take them may not be the enthused about it. Nevertheless, Revar waits patiently until all have found a maker.
Now that they are paired up it is expected—indeed, required—that the initiate drink from their maker. That is their Beginning. Only once they have truly begun can they can be considered novices.

AUTUMN NOX
Silver Court is in season and for the Autumn Nox it holds a large symposium, inviting all the best vampire minds from around lands nearby and far. The whole castle is abuzz with new activity. The stables are packed full of horses, carriages litter the grounds, but somehow the castle has enough rooms to house all the new arrivals.
Novices will find that some of these vampires have not seen a human-novice in a very, very long time. These vampires might see the human-novices more like specimens, curious about their every move. They won't bite, but novices may find themselves observed as they wander the castle and its grounds.
The symposium itself is open to anyone at the castle. Scholars can present on any topic at all. Novices will find that these range from the incredibly mundane (you've always wanted to attend a history of bottom-feeding river fish, haven't you?) to the truly fascinating (new insights into how vampire hearts work) to the downright strange (the symposium has a range of lectures very close to dawn about the sharing of vampire...fluids). Seasoned novices with their own Autumn classes to attend are expected to keep up with their studies, but some teachers may let them out of a session to attend the lectures and workshops of the symposium.
The Silver Court vampires are incredibly busy between running the symposium and trying to help the new novices get settled in. They may need some volunteers to lend a hand with setting up rooms or helping scholars find their way around. In fact, volunteers might find themselves leading scholars down to the second kitchen for a bite to eat, a strong reminder that even these demure learners are still monsters who must drink blood.

PUMPKINS-GONE-WILD
The symposium isn't all that the autumn season brings. The Silver Court’s talents are on display in other ways—sometimes not in ways another had particularly hoped. An overly zealous youngblood in the Silver Court tried to grow a few extra pumpkins for the occasion and ended up with a few too many! The pumpkin vines break out of the green house and start sprouting pumpkins everywhere. These are no ordinary pumpkins, they will sprout and grow and become fully formed in the course of a night. Better keep an eye out for those vines or else your room might become full of pumpkins! Luckily, the pumpkins aren’t rotting any time soon (they’ll last until winter, or so the Silver Court vampires are saying), but it can be pretty inconvenient for them to grow everywhere. Start cutting those vines to pieces, and hope they don’t try to entangle you in the process.
LIBRARY CLEAN-UP
Meanwhile, with all the scholars in town are making a mess of the library, much to the Silver Court vampire’s dismay. Books are being checked out and not checked back in, passed around from scholar to scholar. You might find those lost books just about anywhere. Who was reading in a tree? Anyone who collects the books and returns them to the library is sure to get a little bit of favor with the librarians, and it’s never a bad thing to have a bit of an in with a Court. If you’re worried about failing Silver Court, it’s time to get searching! Although how you’re going to convince a 300 year old vampire that time is not fake and that deadlines are real (and in fact were two days ago) is anyone’s guess.
UNETHICAL EXPRIMENTS
[CW: Torture, experiments]
Those who venture towards the basement might hear something a little different than normal. The thralls who spend their time down there are normally quiet, commanded to keep silent and pleasant for the vampires they serve. But with the arrival of the new scholars comes disquieting, inhuman screams from the darker reaches of the basement. Novices trying to catch a glimpse will be chased away, but teachers might be invited to watch as these vampires experiment on one another, all in the name of science. What’s a little torture, when you’re undying?

Thanks for joining us for our first TDM! For any questions regarding the TDM prompts, please comment in the thread below. For general game questions, please check the FAQ/Game Info. Remember that the game proper will begin mid December, in the Winter Season, so Students/Novices should create their prompts under the assumption that the TDM takes place during the season prior to the one they will be apping as.

Edward pulls his wrist abruptly away from Izzy's mouth. One drop is enough, and Izzy's hand much more than that. Watching Izzy's eyes, searching them for any new flecks of blue, Ed flattens his tongue against that same wrist, and with the dragging lick, the blood and the wound are both gone, only the memory of them left in a tinge of corpse-blue on his lips and tongue, and Izzy's. ]
This is only the beginning. [ Ed intones, hollow-eyed. ] You aren't a vampire yet, Iz; you're a meal. Nothing has changed, understand?
[ Though it may sound demeaning (and it is), it's also a warning for Izzy not to let his pride cloud his judgement. The world of vampires is as dangerous as it's ever been; more than, here in the castle. ]
no subject
Nothing has changed. [he repeats, obediently, but deep within he can't help but think: "yet"]
no subject
That's enough for this lot. Follow me.
[ With a kind of violence to his step and fire in his eyes, Ed stalks away at a steady pace, expecting Izzy to follow him as commanded like the good doggie he is. ]
It's past time for lunch.
no subject
[he follows after him willingly and unconsciously matching his pace step for step]
I don't know why we have to bother with all this play acting to begin with. Why can't you just turn me now?
no subject
Besides the fact that your fragile human body wouldn't do well drinking so much blood all at once, and that being drained of all my blood would leave me basically defenseless? The process of Becoming was decided by vampires much older and more dangerous than the rest. Wouldn't do well for us to draw their attention.
[ The Council in particular, he means. Revar and the rest, who were watching the proceedings like circling sharks, as they always do, tasting the blood in the water, looking for injured and weak creatures to gobble up. ]
no subject
We're not scared of them are we? [it's an actual question, but also a little more than that. Ed isn't afraid of anyone. Or he'd better not be]
no subject
Can't be scared of them, because I don't feel fear. You, though...
[ Edward circles Izzy halfway, lays a hand on the back of his neck like grabbing a kitten by the scruff and walks him down the hall at a pace more leisurely than before. His voice is liquid, and it echoes through Izzy's blood, in his mind, as more than a suggestion. ]
You must be terrified.
[ It's safer that way. ]
no subject
Well-- I have-- a healthy respect for them. But you're better than they are. You'll show them.
no subject
Respect. Exactly. [ He hisses by Izzy's ear as he continues to steer him by the neck around the turn in the hallway, up to the door of Ed's suite. ] Hold fast to that respect, hm? I'll handle the rest.
[ As rattled by fear as Izzy is, he isn't afraid of Edward, though he should be, for all Ed's done and could do still to him. Even threatened, Izzy only moves closer, becomes more stalwart in his loyalty. He's a marvel among humans, soon to be a marvel among vampires, and Edward can only hope that side of Izzy isn't transformed with the rest of him. That and enjoy himself by exploiting Izzy's human weaknesses while he still can. ]
no subject
Anything else I can do other than play at respect?
no subject
[ For now, for now is good enough. Ed's smile is catlike as he opens the door. His hand on Izzy's neck slides over his spine, settling at the base of his back as he guides him inside and follows, shutting the door behind. ]
no subject
Or given. He shivers again at Ed's hand sliding down his back leaving him hot and cold all at once. A promise. He hooks his fingers into his black cravat, pulling it down, preparing]
I'm ready whenever you are.
no subject
I know you will.
[ He watches with sharply cut onyx eyes as Izzy removes his cravat and bares his neck. Ed's mouth is salivating for the taste of skin and sweat and blood, of Izzy, and his tongue traces the sharp point of his fangs as he circles 'round. It's not a sudden thing, or slow either: just sure-footed, feline grace as he sets one hand flat against Izzy's chest and pushes until he can feel the impact through Izzy's ribs of his back hitting the door. He keeps it there after, his hand pressed almost hard enough to bruise over Izzy's beating heart, while the other slides up to Izzy's jaw, his chin, and gently tilts his head to the side.
Edward bites immediately, too ravenous for the taste to take his time savoring the warm of Izzy's skin at his neck. He gets the warmth of Izzy's blood instead, decadent tasting, sweet and perfect as Ed remembers things like caramel and coffee and chocolate to be. The sound he makes there, open-mouthed as he drinks, falls somewhere between a purr and a groan. He always tastes so fucking good. ]
no subject
B-boss... [he wants to say something, anything, has nothing to say. He grips at Edward's arms, bunches his fingers in his sleeves, only just stops pushing himself up on the balls of his feet. A mad part of him wants to climb Edward like a fucking tree, lock his legs around his waist and let the man have all of him, every fucking second, no matter how wrecked he would be afterward. Very wrecked, he reminds himself. Because last time there was simultaneous feeding and fucking Izzy had nearly died from the combination of blood loss and exertion.
He was getting fucking old.]
Edward. [he groans this now, slipping past the point of caring] Edward. More. Fucking more. Fucking harder, you coward.
no subject
And pinned between Edward's body and the door, Izzy writhes. Ed presses harder, more fully against him, not to discourage it, but to feel it more, to encourage the struggle that sets them both alight. Ed remembers that last time, and how weak Izzy was left; he can't afford to be weak again now, here. Despite knowing that, Edward slots a knee between Izzy's thighs anyway, pins Izzy's elbows to the door, and with a rocking grind that sends sparks through him, Ed forces Izzy up onto his toes. He tilts his head away after, wet-mouthed, just far enough to watch for a moment as the blood pools on Izzy's throat in the shape of Edward's teeth. The sight's as thrilling as feeling skin-on skin, which Ed leans in again to have as well, by licking a long stripe up Izzy's neck to catch the droplets, and then growl, bloody-lipped, against his ear. ]
Careful, Iz. Can't have you dying before I'm through with you.
[ He punctuates the words with another greedy bite, higher on Izzy's neck this time, just beneath his ijaw, while leaving the first to bleed. ]
no subject
You're not done. [it's said almost like a curs as Ed pulls away and the blood runs both hot and cool down his neck. Then makes a low noise at the feeling of his tongue, grinding back reflexively, not that he has much range of movement like this. He shudders at the thick heat in his master's voice]
Then fucking change me. [he snarls again at the bite but tilts his head a little to give Edward better purchase, grinds himself again against Edward's leg. He's not going to have much blood in his neck left after a while] Change me and I'll never have to die again.
[and he'll live forever and ever and become greater than anyone]
no subject
he'd be boring, Ed's sure he would enjoy it all more. Instead, Izzy is a frustrated ball of contradictions, as ever. Writhes but resists. Wants to, but doesn't. Wishes, but won't. But most of all, Izzy doesn't fucking listen, and Edward's done explaining himself. He lets go of Izzy entirely, inhumanly quick and all at once, only to catch Izzy by the throat and slam him back against the door again before Izzy's feet can properly find purchase again on the ground. Edward glowers at him with flinty eyes that spark blue when the candlelight hits just right— a blue that's taken home in Izzy's eyes now as well, though just barely. ]
Do I have to fucking do everything?!
no subject
I only want what you promised. [he lets go of Ed's wrist and draws a finger down his cheek.] And for you to remember you made it.
no subject
His hand on Izzy's neck loosens next, but only enough for Izzy to breathe fully, not enough to escape the wall he's pinned to like an insect on display. Edward blinks slowly and his eyebrows raise as a practiced mask slides into place. ]
Let this be your first lesson then, novice. Vampires don't need to ask for what we want. We don't fucking beg to be made.
[ Because that's what Izzy's demands amount to, in Edward's eyes. What value does an empty threat have? Nothing, if you aren't willing to act. His hand on Izzy's neck loosens further, curls until his thumb is on Izzy's lower lip, pulling his chin down with it to open his mouth. Ed's eyes follow, practically closing as he leans in and whispers against Izzy's lips— ]
You want my blood so bad? Just fucking take it.
[ —And he bites Izzy's lower lip viciously, licks the blood from the tear he's made and follows it into a kiss. Let Izzy figure out the rest. Or not. Ed's taking what he wants, either way. ]
no subject
he grunts at the bite, the sting, and then opens his mouth under Ed's, wanting, needy, tasting the salt-copper tang of his own blood and hoping Ed can taste the remnants of his own on Izzy's tongue, the edges of his teeth.
--to be given something, for a promise to be made and filled, to be part of someone and something and for them to know after you crush them to the ground that they were the ones who got you where you were.
Only he doesn't want to crush Ed even though he should. No. No he wants something else. Something more. Something deeper. He wants to chase and chase but for Ed to always be more, stronger, darker, painful and remind Izzy that there is someone greater out there.
He hums his desire into Ed's mouth and nips at his tongue, but not enough to draw blood and that's on purpose too]
no subject
Have to do everything myself.
[ He grumbles, but gluts himself on Izzy at the same time by bringing both his hands to Izzy's cheeks and cradling his jaw, holding him gently as he likes while he bites his own lip. The blood dripping in rivulets, mostly inwards rather than down his chin, is clearly visible for Izzy to see, to tease and entice during the long moment it takes for Edward's sluggish veins to pump a good amount of his blood to pooling in his own mouth. Once there's a decent amount, though, Edward doesn't hesitate, but smoothly leans in to seal their mouths together again, and feeds it to Izzy from his tongue. ]
no subject
We done here then?
[because if Edward can't appreciate him, he can well find someone who can.]
no subject
Edward's eyes flash cold night-sky blue as he snarls, drags Izzy in by clawing both hands into his vest, and then slams him that much harder against the door; it rattles on its hinges with the force. But ultimately, his action is all thunder, no lightning. He can't threaten to kill Izzy; they both know he won't. Can't withhold blood he already gave, and isn't in the mood for more abuse.
Just as suddenly as the storm arrives, it passes. Edward lets go of Izzy all at once, to either try to catch his footing or fall; he doesn't wait to see. Instead, he turns away and growls as he stalks across the room, towards the half-empty bottle of bloodwine he has stashed from last season. ]
Yes, I'm done with you for tonight. Get the fuck out.
no subject
[and maybe he is too. He is about to tell him goodnight, but instead leaves, shutting the door quietly behind him]
