DEC TEST DRIVE MEME

Welcome to the Undying Court Test Drive Meme! This post will allow players to test drive their AU characters in the setting, as well as meet fresh faces or even connect with those they have preexisting CR with. As with anything involved in the setting, this post will likely contain: violence, enthrallment, torture, and sexual content.

Regarding continuity, all TDM threads can be taken as in-game canon if desired. Please keep in mind that the game proper will begin in mid December, in the Winter Season, so Students/Novices should create their prompts under the assumption that the TDM takes place during the season prior to the one they will be apping as. This means that students planning to app as first season novices will be visiting Castle Courtsheart prior to their Beginning. In other words, if you plan to app a student as a second season, the TDM will take place during their first, and so on.

NEW ARRIVALS

New arrivals will be starting their first season in the winter, but they're welcomed to the castle early, under the watchful eyes of the Silver Court. Upon arrival, they will be shown to a room by a human whose eyes glow softly from within, with vacant smiles. Thralls. There, the human thralls will draw them a bath and bring them new clothes to wear to their first meeting. These are rich, expensive things made of high quality fabric. Whether it's a silk dress and a heavy velvet cowl, or a fine pants and a vest made from a brocade, the servants will provide. The new initiate's old clothes will be burned after, in a symbol of the life they are leaving behind. If they are hungry, they will be provided food. If they need anything at all, they need only ask their new servants.

Later that night they are taken to a grand hall, with high arched ceilings and candles burning in chandeliers. There are figures painted overhead, beautiful and entwined. Some have their eyes are colored to match the courts, others are gracefully placed in their death, with blood dripping from necks and wrists.

Balconies line the hall behind a forest of pillars, and vampires all watch as the group walk through (some more hungrily than others).

"Welcome to your first undying season, initiates," a pale, silver-haired vampire calls. They have silver eyes are clad in silver robes, but command the attention of everyone in attendance. They have a beauty that seems neither male nor female. They are standing at the center of a wide semi-circle of other vampires, "As the Silver Court's acting voice at this end of the Autumn season, allow me to introduce you to the Houses that will be your new homes."

The vampire, Revar, gives the newcomers an overview of all of the courts—Blue, Red, Gold, Silver, and Black—and then invites those already claimed by their Courts to join the vampires who will be their Makers.

Revar offers the Foundlings who are left a gentle, knowing smile, and then allows them to be chosen. They are like the last sheep left at the auction, and the vampires who take them may not be the enthused about it. Nevertheless, Revar waits patiently until all have found a maker.

Now that they are paired up it is expected—indeed, required—that the initiate drink from their maker. That is their Beginning. Only once they have truly begun can they can be considered novices.

AUTUMN NOX

Silver Court is in season and for the Autumn Nox it holds a large symposium, inviting all the best vampire minds from around lands nearby and far. The whole castle is abuzz with new activity. The stables are packed full of horses, carriages litter the grounds, but somehow the castle has enough rooms to house all the new arrivals.

Novices will find that some of these vampires have not seen a human-novice in a very, very long time. These vampires might see the human-novices more like specimens, curious about their every move. They won't bite, but novices may find themselves observed as they wander the castle and its grounds.

The symposium itself is open to anyone at the castle. Scholars can present on any topic at all. Novices will find that these range from the incredibly mundane (you've always wanted to attend a history of bottom-feeding river fish, haven't you?) to the truly fascinating (new insights into how vampire hearts work) to the downright strange (the symposium has a range of lectures very close to dawn about the sharing of vampire...fluids). Seasoned novices with their own Autumn classes to attend are expected to keep up with their studies, but some teachers may let them out of a session to attend the lectures and workshops of the symposium.

The Silver Court vampires are incredibly busy between running the symposium and trying to help the new novices get settled in. They may need some volunteers to lend a hand with setting up rooms or helping scholars find their way around. In fact, volunteers might find themselves leading scholars down to the second kitchen for a bite to eat, a strong reminder that even these demure learners are still monsters who must drink blood.

PUMPKINS-GONE-WILD

The symposium isn't all that the autumn season brings. The Silver Court’s talents are on display in other ways—sometimes not in ways another had particularly hoped. An overly zealous youngblood in the Silver Court tried to grow a few extra pumpkins for the occasion and ended up with a few too many! The pumpkin vines break out of the green house and start sprouting pumpkins everywhere. These are no ordinary pumpkins, they will sprout and grow and become fully formed in the course of a night. Better keep an eye out for those vines or else your room might become full of pumpkins! Luckily, the pumpkins aren’t rotting any time soon (they’ll last until winter, or so the Silver Court vampires are saying), but it can be pretty inconvenient for them to grow everywhere. Start cutting those vines to pieces, and hope they don’t try to entangle you in the process.

LIBRARY CLEAN-UP

Meanwhile, with all the scholars in town are making a mess of the library, much to the Silver Court vampire’s dismay. Books are being checked out and not checked back in, passed around from scholar to scholar. You might find those lost books just about anywhere. Who was reading in a tree? Anyone who collects the books and returns them to the library is sure to get a little bit of favor with the librarians, and it’s never a bad thing to have a bit of an in with a Court. If you’re worried about failing Silver Court, it’s time to get searching! Although how you’re going to convince a 300 year old vampire that time is not fake and that deadlines are real (and in fact were two days ago) is anyone’s guess.

UNETHICAL EXPRIMENTS

[CW: Torture, experiments]

Those who venture towards the basement might hear something a little different than normal. The thralls who spend their time down there are normally quiet, commanded to keep silent and pleasant for the vampires they serve. But with the arrival of the new scholars comes disquieting, inhuman screams from the darker reaches of the basement. Novices trying to catch a glimpse will be chased away, but teachers might be invited to watch as these vampires experiment on one another, all in the name of science. What’s a little torture, when you’re undying?

[Moving to the door with a sway to her hips, she pushes it open for him. While she loves to have fun with people, she wasn't rude about it and finds it in her to hold open the door for him while he steps out before following behind him when he does.]

You're so strong, Conrad. [ He was a fellow teacher so of course she knows his name, not that they have interacted all that much. Shame.] I could never carry so many books all by myself.

[It really doesn't take much to get Conrad blushing and bothered, that's just how he is. And it's not like he's used to flirtatious advances, anyhow. But, regardless, in the presence of a fellow educator, he'll do his best to keep it together and he moves right along.]

Oh. Thanks. [Well, he does appreciate that she's escorting him around, otherwise, this would be rather impossible for him. He needs both hands to hold the books and keep them steady, otherwise, he'd either lose his balance or drop the lot.]

Mmm-hmm... [That's all he can really say to the comment on his strength. He's... not totally sure if that's meant to be a joke or what.] I am more than certain that you could but don't worry about it. I'm, um... happy to help. [Seriously, there's no way he's actually stronger than her. But he is sincerely alright with lending a hand so, it's fine.] Are you just collecting books during your down time? Any lectures scheduled for later?

[It wasn't really meant as a joke, but she does laugh a little when he says she could have. Yes, they have vampire strength, but she was still a twig of a creature and she knows it. So while maybe she was teasing him, she also is truly grateful for his help. She would hate to make multiple trips.

Walking beside him in the hall, she holds the other two books to her chest protectively. Clearly she cares for these books.]

And I am grateful for the help, sincerely. [She gives him a beaming smile as she matches his pace easily, her heels clicking harshly on the stone.]

No, gave a lecture to the scholars about the importance of certain plants to the vampire salivary gland, so that we might produce more saliva for times of emergency. Most brought books to argue points, but then left them instead of returning them to the library.

[She huffs irritatedly, but then takes a breath and smiles again]

I'll be giving another lecture on the herbs and foods best given to thralls for their health and general upkeep, with an emphasis on the importance of feeding them liver, peas, and lentils. [A pause.]

[Conrad isn't normally a very smiley guy, even though he will insist he smiles plenty, but with someone smiling at him like that it is a little contagious. The corners of his lips twitch a bit, at the very least. He'll just let her guide him to the library since he's a little busy keeping the big stack of books from lilting too much one way or the other as he carries them.]

Emergency... salavia? [What? He can't help but give her a bit of a questioning look, then.]

Wait. Liver and lentils? That's what the thralls should eat? Aren't their lives hard enough as it is? [Serving vampires night to day... The only reason Conrad is a vampire himself is because he needed to escape that miserable existence.] I mean, it sounds like an interesting topic, sure. You'd think most of us could remember what it was like to tuck into a decent meal, though.

Yes.. in case some crazy asshole from the black court starts cutting up people again.

[She's the one to give him a strange look now, clearly questioning him.

Ah, was he a Thrall sympathizer? That's fine, she wasn't one of the cruel people to thralls... usually. She remembers her time as one, though she rarely shares that information with anyone.]

Yes, I know it's not exactly appetizing, but they suffer long term anemia, it cannot be helped, these foods are key to help mitigate such issues. They can eat other things as well, but their diet needs to be monitored for their and our continued health.

[She huffs a little. Half her job was the care of thralls, she understood better than most what they needed to stay healthy.]

Oh... Again? [He raises an eyebrow at that and puffs an uneasy breath. And, yes, he definitely has endless sympathy for the thralls. As a decent person and a vampire who clings to his humanity, how could he not?]

I get what you mean, sure. It can't be easy shedding so much blood... I mean, I'm sure it isn't exactly healthy for them. I do try to get them treats, you know, as a little thank you from time to time.

[Conrad depends on them, after all. He's not going out hunting down his dinner. Or wooing anyone to make blood claims with him, either. All his blood meals come from one source.]

Mm, yes, again. [She leaves it ominous and hanging. Afterall, it wouldn't be the first or last time a vampire goes crazy with a dread blade. Or worse yet, old wives tales coming true about werewolves.]

Treats are fine of course, they need other things like fruits and vegetables to maintain their health, but it's just good to keep their blood count up. It wouldn't do to run the poor things ragged.

[Karma had some sympathy towards Thralls, but they were also a means to an end. Which was the continued survival of vampires, so it wouldn't do to treat them poorly. Half of Silver's job was the upkeep of thralls afterall.]

Liver and lentils should just be a common staple amongst their diet.

[Well, he's not going to push for information, so he'll just leave it at that and nod. He'd heard some rumors, but he didn't want to get into that sort of conversation, anyway.]

I get it. That just sounds like such an unappetizing combination. I- Ooof..!

[He has to right himself as he almost trips then, taking the pile of books with him. He can't see his feet so... he really has to keep his attention on where he steps. And he can be a little clumsy, anyway. Thankfully he doesn't actually send any of the books spilling to the ground.]

Err-errm... S-sorry. I-I got it.

Oh! Are you okay? It's fine, the stack is rather large.

[She reaches out a hand as if to steady him but doesn't touch. Yet. She would need to gauge how he is with touch before doing something so casual.]

Oh, I am sure it's quite unappetizing. No matter, sometimes you have to do things you rather not for one's health, don't you agree?

[She leads them around a corner, checking to make sure he's not about to bump into anyone as they do. Luckily the way is clear.]

Almost there. Now tell me.. how have your classes been? Anything interesting?

[Conrad is rather particular when it comes to being touched. Though, since becoming a vampire he has loosened up somewhat. Still, he is very selective when it comes to those he gets close to. But then he wouldn't shrug off a helping hand. He'd rather not fall on his face, after all, and have books cascading everywhere.]

Th-thanks. I'm good. And, yeah. I do. It's not like I took to a liquid diet right off the bat, myself. [He clears his throat with a soft humming sound, then. He has to figure other vamps got used to the whole thing far quicker than he did. For him, it was an... ordeal.]

Uhm. Oh. It's pretty much the same-old same-old. Though, now I have some somewhat interesting, and bothersome, still life to work with. Pumpkins get old pretty quickly, though.

Took me a while too, I still miss some human food, but as the years pass I have forgotten what most of it tastes like. [When she says a while, she probably doesn't mean as long as it took him, but that's okay, Karma understands well enough.]

Oh! Did you not hear? The pumpkins are supposed to stay fresh til winter, so they should look good for a little while yet, though the solstice is right around the corner.

[He might not have heard yet since it's silver mostly is the ones talking about the strangeness of the pumpkins.

But she sounds excited for the change of season. Afterall, she loves the ball that comes with winter.]

Is that your specialty? Still lifes? Or do you draw nudes too? [Did her voice just dip down into something sultry? Absolutely.]

Hm. I hope I don't forget everything completely. But, yeah, it does slip away after a while, doesn't it? [He has to sigh a little wistfully... God help him if he totally forgets the joy of a hot cup of tea and a scone.]

Well, that's just... great... [Conrad is obviously not thrilled with the longevity of the pumpkins, but his grumping is quickly diminished when the subject of his artworks is questioned. He's blushing, not just because she's asking about nudes, but it's the way she asks.]

I, uuuuuhm.... No. I mean, I do. I mean... I don't have a specialty drawing them. Or, well- They're just part of the curriculum. Having models in class, I mean. It's important to have a good grasp of anatomy. [He huffs faintly and grips the stack of books just a bit tighter.]

It does.. I wish I could remember what cinnamon cake tastes like. [She sighs wistfully. It was one of the human things she misses, her mother's cinnamon cake, her short breads.. they were very good. But she's been a vampire long enough to have forgotten everything but the smell, which she can still enjoy at least.

She gives him a sultry smirk when he starts to babble some. Delightful.]

I would love to model for you privately, have you practice those anatomy skills so you're fresh and ready for your classes.

[It doesn't take a whole lot to get Conrad blathering and stammering. Good thing she seems to not mind it too much because it will probably continue for a bit.]

Y-you... would...? [He stops in his tracks for the briefest moment, then picks up his pace again so he doesn't fall behind her.] Really? That's, ah- That's very generous of you, I've never had anyone, ahem, volunteer like this... Thanks. Of-of course, you could dress however you'd like it's just.... Traditionally the models are... uh... nude... But they don't have to be! [He swears if he weren't undead he'd be broiling under the collar right about now. Maybe she was just teasing him? Maybe he should just stop talking so much?]

[The library doors weren't too far from them now, so she slows her pace a little for him to catch up to her easily enough. She can't help but wonder if he doesn't get her seduction she was trying to slip in there, but that's fine. It was fun to tease and get him stammering. He was a cute one for sure.

But her offer is sincere, even if it doesn't end up being as sexy as she is teasing for it to become, she would definitely model for him.]

I would, yes, really. [She chuckles a little, something a little deeper than one might expect her laugh to be.] I don't mind being nude for our... private anatomy lesson. As a Silver, I understand the importance of understanding anatomy and how it works. [She gives him a sultry smile.] So, you're welcome to get some hands on practice.

[She'll have to forgive Conrad, it's not like he has much experience in the ways of flirting. He is not a seductive fellow and it's just not something he's used to, so he tends to get a tad befuddled. And he doesn't want to be presumptuous about anything, either. But then there comes a point where even he can't be totally oblivious.]

I, ah- I appreciate that. A lot. Thank you. [His voice lilts a bit and he clears his throat faintly as he returns her smile. He doesn't have a seductive grin, but it's definitely genuine.] I guess I'll have to hold you, um- hold you to it. You've given me something to look forward to.

[He was cute, she didn't mind someone who was stumbling through flirting. Honestly, she had the most fun with people who didn't know what they were doing, though it could be fun with someone who knew how to flirt sometimes she didn't trust that they didn't have their own agenda.

It was easier to relax around someone who gives her a a genuine smile. She gives her own one back, giving him a wink.]

Oh, Conrad, you are welcome to hold me anytime. And please do, I would love to model for you, I'm looking forward to it as well.

[She opens the door for him, stepping aside so he can step in easily while she holds it open.]

[That's how he managed to get through his classes on seduction, basically. He could pull off being cute and kinda endearing, in his own way. Some people found that more attractive than being a suave, captivating individual, right? Well, in any case, he is sincere.]

That's, um... Well... I'll remember that. Feel free to stop by anytime, then, for as long as you like... It'll be nice to get some one-on-one, hands-on practice.

[He quickly shuffles into the library with the books and utters a soft thanks. Then he turns around in a slow circle looking for a place to finally be rid of the book pile. Probably just plopping them down on the librarian's desk and letting them deal with it is a good plan, he thinks.]

Oh, it will be my absolute pleasure~

[Karma is absolutely delighted when he agrees, a pleased little huff of amusement leaving them. Oh, they can't wait to get their hands on this man. It would be delightful.

Walking up from behind him, they walk past him to the library desk, greeting the librarian on duty. They often hated being on library duty, but luckily there were a few people who appreciated the position.]

Conrad, dear, you can set them here, they will take it from there. [Setting their own books down on the desk, they give him a beatific smile.]

[This exchange turned out way better than he would've imagined. But then he doesn't normally imagine that people want to get their hands all over him or anything, that'd be a little vain. He has to chuckle in delight, just a bit, something he doesn't do hardly ever.]

I, heh- Oh, right. Of course. [And he happily unloads the books with a loud thud. Though, he didn't mind carrying them they were a bit cumbersome. He flexes his fingers and turns to her then, smiling, although a bit more shy now.]

You... know where to find me? I mean, to meet up... sometime... later... [Or, yannno, he could give her details on how to get to his quarters if she likes.]

[His reaction is one that she can't help but note with a pleased smile. Good, it seems he's looking forward to it just as much as she is. She was always down to see if those rumors about artist's hands were true, if they were really that talented.

Placing a finger against the center of his chest, she aims that smile at him now, delighted by his enthusiasm.]

Oh yes, I think I'll be able to find you just find. I'll come by sometime soon and we can spend some time alone together. [She trails the finger down a little before retreating.]

Thank you for carrying these heavy books for me.

[Conrad might not be much of a flirt, but he is good with his hands. Anyway... For the moment he's only focused on her as she extends her hand to lightly stroke him like that. The faint touch to his chest sends a bit of a sparking sensation along his skin, even though they're touching through clothing. Truth be told, he's been a little lonely since his fellow art instructor, his mentor whom he shared a blood claim with, went on sabbatical. He tries not to think about that too much, though.]

Soon... Soon is good. [He's not quite sure how else to emphasize that he is quite excited about these plans so... He'll just go with that.]

And, um, you're welcome, of course. It's no problem. If you ever need help with anything else... Ah. Don't be afraid to ask.

Soon, for sure then. And I will keep you in mind anytime I need help. [She leans forward, kissing him on the cheek, not minding how some of her lipstick leaves behind a mark.

Giving him a smile, she waves her fingers before making her way out of the library.

She was already thinking of all the fun things they could do next time they meet up, which she knew would be very soon. It was not often that she look forward to such things, but today she was definitely in the right mood to feel the thrill of excitement at having caught such a cute prey to play with later.]

Oh-oh, good. Yes, later then... But, soon. See you soon...

[He turns a bit pinker in the cheeks with that kiss. He hadn't expected that. A goofy sort of smile spreads over his face and he waves her off before going on his way to do whatever it was he'd been meaning to do.

He'll walk around with that lipstick on his face for most of the night and even after it's pointed out to him that it's there he's not in any hurry to wipe it away.]
