March TDM/Event - Spring Nox

MARCH TDM - SPRING NOX
Welcome to the Undying Court's March Test Drive Meme! This post also functions as the March Event for existing characters, as well as the start of the Spring Season, led by the Red Court.

New novices who are in their second season or more may handwave or backdate the previous season's arrival prompts should they wish to, and should otherwise assume they've been here the whole time! Additionally, all TDM threads can be taken as in-game canon if desired. And remember that apps open April 3-7, with invites opening on March 28, and reserves not long after!

Note that this post will contain: violence, enthrallment, slavery, body horror and potentially sexual content. Spring has many surprises! This event also features a chance for characters to submit a free Cosmetic Physical Features Regain, as a reward for the Hanahaki prompt.

Feel free to brush up on the Premise, Vampire Powers, and head over to the FAQ/Game Info page if you have any questions!

  • Keep in mind that this event will be occurring throughout the month of March and into April, so characters are free to forward-date as desired!
  • For new characters please format your Top-level in this format: Character Name | Canon | Court | Youngblood/Novice | TDM
  • For existing characters please format your Top-level in this format: Character Name | Court | Youngblood/Novice
  • If you have any questions specific to the event, ask them in the Plotting Post Q&A section!
  • Our new Locations page is live! Take a look if you've ever wondered what exactly lies in the castle.

SPRING ARRIVAL
New arrivals will be starting their first season in the Spring, and they're welcomed to the castle under the watchful eyes of the Red Court. Upon arrival, they will be shown to a room by humans whose eyes glow softly from within, with vacant smiles. Thralls. There, the human thralls will draw them a bath and bring them new clothes to wear to their first meeting. These are rich, expensive things made of high quality fabric. Whether it's a silk dress and a heavy velvet cowl, or a fine pants and a vest made from a brocade, the servants will provide whatever is requested of them. The new initiate's old clothes will be burned after, in a symbol of the life they are leaving behind. If they are hungry, they will be provided food. If they need anything at all, they need only ask their new servants.

Later that night, new novices are taken to a grand hall, with high arched ceilings and candles burning in chandeliers. There are figures painted overhead, beautiful and entwined. Some have their eyes are colored to match the courts, others are gracefully placed in their death, with blood dripping from necks and wrists.

Balconies line the hall behind a forest of pillars, and vampires all watch as the group walk through (some more hungrily than others).

"Welcome to your first undying season, initiates." a fair-skinned vampire with full, crimson lips that match her crimson eyes steps forward. With dark brown curls, a plunging gown, and a broadsword strapped to her back, the woman commands the attention of everyone in attendance. Her hair falls halfway down her back, and holds herself with a surety and ease to her posture that proves her sword isn't simply for show. She stands at the center of a wide semi-circle of other vampires, "My name is Claudia. As the Red Court's acting voice for the Spring season, allow me to introduce you to the Houses that will be your new homes."

The vampire, Claudia, gives the newcomers an overview of all of the courts—Blue, Red, Gold, Silver, and Black—and then invites those already claimed by their Courts to join the vampires who will be their Makers.

Claudia offers the Foundlings who are left a sharp, knowing smile, and waves a hand, allowing them to be chosen. They are like the last sheep left at the auction, and the vampires who take them may not be the enthused about it. Nevertheless, Claudia waits until all have found a maker, nodding imperceptibly as the last are paired off.

Now that they are paired up it is expected—indeed, required—that the initiate drink from their maker. That is their Beginning. Only once they have truly begun can they can be considered novices.

"Makers, your responsibility to your novices begins today," she declares, a red-eyed apprentice appearing behind her. The apprentice -- for her eyes are too red to be a novice, is blond and pale, and dressed in reds to match her Maker. She's an unfamiliar face in the castle, even for those who have been here for some time. Whispers follow them as she and Claudia step away from the center of the room. Her apprentice, however, remains bound like a livewire, predatory in her gaze as it lands on the season's new novices. "Come along, Silvea," calls Claudia, and for a moment Silvea hesitates, though she follows as instructed. Bit of an odd duck, this one.
SPRING NOX
The Spring Nox consists of two events: an Arena and a Salon. The pageantry of the Nox springs up quickly, with Red Court banners unfurling throughout the castle and greenery put on display (the tame kind, one assumes).

Some may find the Arena most interesting. A complicated tournament requiring combatants to use an array of weapons, vampires from all over come to the castle to compete. Although of course the Red Court would argue the true spirit of the Arena is to show off the finesse and skill of the competitors, many vampires attend because of the thrill all the bloodshed brings. Some rounds, the blood in the air becomes so much it can be intoxicating. Good thing there are always thralls close at hand to drink from! Novices are, of course, off limits.

Normally, this tournament is held only amongst vampires. Even Youngbloods struggle against their mature counterparts, whose strength and speed are increased with their age. But this year, Claudia announces that one novice will be allowed to compete.

In order to choose that novice, Claudia and the Red Court are holding a novice tournament prior to the Arena. The prize? A permanent pass from the Red Court. This means that even should the winner never take another Red Court class again, they would have the Red Court's favor. In a world where failing means enthrallment, a guaranteed pass is far better than gold. Of course, no one expects the novice to actually win in the real arena events, but it'll be a very exciting way to lose spectacularly.

((Note: Students can sign up for the Novice Tournament here. The winner will be chosen via RNG once applications are processed. (In other words, new characters can sign up too!))

But not everyone is interested in bloodsport. Some may find themselves drawn, instead, to the Salon. This yearly event brings the most creative minds from all the lands to hold readings and discussions on art old and new. Some sessions are small, informal gatherings around one or two speakers. Others are large, reminiscent of the Silver Court's symposium sessions. There is guaranteed to be something for everyone, and anyone is welcome to reserve a space and hold a session, regardless of whether they are a vampire or not.

Of course, it wouldn't be a Red Court event without bloodwine and seduction, either. The Red Court maintains an expansive definition of art. It is not uncommon to find steamy poetry readings full of half-clothed vampires, pieces of art where the artist is a living (or unliving, as the case may be) subject, or interactive rooms with paint and other objects meant to be played with. Art is so often about the observer, after all.

A particular highlight this year is of a traveling group of vampires, the Dragulettes, who use makeup and clothing to change their gender rather than using masks. Their outfits range from the silly to the sexual, and they will be performing a series of popular folk songs. They are well known for their humor between their songs and their critiques of the way that humans put so much stock on gender and its false dichotomies. Their show will be on the same stage NECK*SINK played on, and draws a very large crowd as vampires young and old laugh and cheer for the show.
A FLOWERING SICKNESS
The change of season brings more than just warmer weather, as last month's pollinating flowers have begun to bloom all across the castle! But it isn't just the grounds and the gardens that are sporting bright, beautiful flowers now that the snow has begun to recede. Sprouts and blooms appear almost overnight along the castle halls and walls, from the brightest to the darkest recesses of the castle, where flowers have no business growing at all. Where have they come from, and how are they blooming? The Red and Silver Courts have yet to find the cause, but the fact is the flowers are here -- and for now, they're here to stay.

But as the Spring Nox passes and the Spring celebrations continue, novices, youngbloods, even some mature vampires, begin to suffer from a strange, inexplicable cough, with seemingly no cure. As the days pass, those afflicted will begin to cough up petals tinged with blood. Later still, the affliction advances so that those infected begin coughing up entire flowers, with novices reporting trouble breathing, and youngbloods reporting discomfort in their chests -- beneath their lungs.

Those in the most advanced stages may find thorns sprouting forth from their bodies, with the truly severe cases becoming overrun with vines and blooms, as the victims become enclosed by plants from the inside out, and transformed into still, lifelike trees. While the rate and speed at which the affliction worsens seems to vary from person to person, the castle's walkways are soon littered with bloody petals and fretful thralls.

Fortunately for all, while the origin of the affliction remains unknown, the Silver Court finds the curse's name within their records: Hanahaki. This flower-blooming curse buries its roots in the hearts of those with unmet desires. Whether that desire is for love, attention, hatred, approval, or even food, any strong desire is enough to spark life into the pollen so many ingested the month prior, and for the curse to take root. Luckily, once that desire is met, the flowers will wither and die, vanishing without a trace.

And for those whose desires are never met? Well, fortunately for them, flowers only bloom for so long. Anyone who advances to the final stage of the curse will only be afflicted by it for ten days' time, after which the flowers will fade away, starved for lack of nutrients. During this time, those affected can be assisted by others, if they happen to know that person's desire is. Or you could try watering them, that might help? (It doesn't help.)

((As with last month's pollen event, this prompt is completely optional! Flowers can represent whatever players want, and can affect characters as much or as little as you wish. Unmet desires can be anything from a desire for love and companionship, to "wanting to get a good grade in class," being noticed by your senpai or maybe just having the world's best slice of cake. Have fun with it! Additionally, anyone who participates in this prompt, in any form, is eligible for a free Cosmetic Physical Feature Regain.))
NEW SEASON, STILL MURDER
Partway through the tournament, perhaps during a particularly exciting bout, whispers start to make their way through the halls. Not from Whisperfangs this time, but something much more sinister. A body, murmurs say, there's a body, others shriek. Spring Nox, it seems, is to be haunted just like Winter Sol.

Outside near one of the outdoor rings, Silvea lies as cold and bloodless as the night, a deep wound in her chest but, as with last time, no murder weapon in sight.

Kashire is here, though, another thing reminiscent of the last murder. "Don't just stand there staring!" He snaps, but what else is there to do, really? Try as anyone might to get to the bottom of things, it seems an apprentice was murdered. As a crowd begins to form, castle residents and visitors alike seem to crowd the members of the Council, probing for answers. Want to join your voice to the chorus? Good luck!
CLASS NOTES
Other notable happenings for the early winter season include:
  • Tis the season for spring cleaning! With the castle overrun with blooms (bloody or otherwise) and flowers sprouting everywhere, you might make a thrall's day if you help clean up some of the mess around the castle. They won't thank you directly, but it's as good a time as any for the castle's residents to do their part and help keep the castle from becoming a gothic garden.

  • The new season means new classes! Youngbloods will begin teaching their new courses for the Spring season, and students get to enjoy a slightly harder curriculum as their vampiric abilities grow and develop. Don't worry if you make a fool of yourself and walk into the wrong classroom. It's the first day of class, no one has memorized all of their students' names yet.

  • Petal baths have become a bit gauche, but there must be something that can be done with all these flowers, right? Students and faculty alike are encouraged to use flowers creatively, whether it be wearing them in your hair, or perhaps building creative flower arrangements to decorate their rooms and space. Morbid, considering the cursed origin of the petals, but nothing tickles vampires quite like the macabre.

  • Rumors are abuzz after Lady Whisperfangs latest rag was particularly biting. Could the Lady's latest temper flareup be due to a lost love, or does she simply enjoy tormenting the castle's residents? Either way, anonymity remains on Whisperfangs' side, but will that always be the case...?

One more thing! We've added a Locations page, for all your location-based needs. As always, characters are free to talk to the NPCs as well: Revar & Kashire & Claudia. For any questions regarding this month's prompts, please comment in the Plotting Post. For general game questions, please check the FAQ/Game Info. In the meantime, remember to submit your Regains for this month's free reward, and keep an eye out for our AC Check-in next week, starting on March 25-31.

Thanks for joining us and we hope you're looking forward to what this new season has in store!

Trilla Suduri | Black | Novice

[personal profile] inquisitorium 2024-03-21 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
Spring Nox

Trilla may be primarily found at the arena; warming up before the Novice tournament, with no sign of nerves on display save perhaps a touch of extra vitriol if disturbed. Still, if you're entering along with her or merely care to wish her luck, you're welcome to try your own.

Later, she can be found wandering around the salon, listening to poetry readings with an uncharacteristic level of interest. Catching her at one of the particularly steamy ones isn't impossible, though let it be known that she will absolutely respond poorly to any accusations of frivolous behavior unbecoming of a Third Season Black Court novice. She needs to pass her Red Court classes the same as anyone else, thank you very much.

A Flowering Sickness [cw: blood; coughing up flowers ]

It starts as a tickle. She's clearing her throat a bit more often than seems normal; there's the beginning of a cough that won't go away. She attributes it to the change of seasons and still being too human for her own good; perhaps it's something to do with the fact that her body has to die a little more each day even as it grows stronger?

In any case, Trilla puts off visiting the infirmary until she can no longer hide her affliction, only to be turned away without a cure. She's on her way back to her room when the increasingly violent cough finally steals her breath away, leaving her gasping and leaning against a wall for support with a handful of bloody petals to show for her troubles. Her vision's gone grey around the edges, so she can't quite make out whether one might be approaching in concern or simply to exploit her weakness. Either way, the answer is the same.

"Mind your own business; I'm fine!"

New Season, Still Murder

Trilla is neither surprised nor particularly disturbed by the newest murder; she's largely just relieved that the focus has shifted away from Black Court for the moment. She does, however, seem rather pensive when the victim is revealed to be an apprentice. Like she'll be if she passes this season.

"Unfortunate. Her Maker must not have prepared her nearly well enough," she remarks to the nearest bystander, with a barely-noticeable glance in the direction she'd last seen her own Maker. Perhaps it's time to ask for more intense lessons, lest she become a target in the coming seasons.

Spring Nox - Arena

[personal profile] lunar_princess 2024-03-21 02:59 pm (UTC)(link)
[Ah, of course she had run into someone else that would probably want to practice before the tournament that was upcoming. For the longest time Luna remains quiet and just... watching her, knowing full well that she's going to end up in the same Court this woman will and perhaps it's best to try and make... nice? Not friends, she's pretty sure friends is outside of Trilla's vocabulary, but at least not make enemies of the woman.

Not that she's doing a great job of now being obvious given the halberd she's set beside her and a longsword sheathed at her side.]

Do you mind some company?
inquisitorium: (cling to his chest)

[personal profile] inquisitorium 2024-03-22 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
[ Trilla is aware of Luna while she watches, and it's for that reason that she responds with considerably less annoyance than she might have otherwise; Luna at least waited until she was done running through her warm-up. She regards the other girl coolly, with a nod to the weapons. ]

I suppose not. How good are you at actually using those?
lunar_princess: (pic#2991655)

[personal profile] lunar_princess 2024-03-22 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
[She certainly knows better than to interrupt someone in the middle of training and it's only the polite thing to do, isn't it? Either way, her caution slips away into a grin as she asks about the weapons.]

I'd say on an expert level, I learned and fought both training and practically with them since I was young. Yourself? [It's extremely rare for her to run into anyone that has as much weaponry and combat experience that she does, but she's always curious to see if one does show up.]
inquisitorium: (beware the ides)

[personal profile] inquisitorium 2024-03-25 03:00 am (UTC)(link)
[ Trilla's expression brightens, though there's a certain predatory sharpness to it that is even more evident when she grins. ]

Confident, aren't you. Perhaps even good enough to provide some actual challenge in there.

[ She nods to the arena, suddenly hoping luck or persistence will pit them against one another. It would be a pity for either of them to lose before testing the other. ]
lunar_princess: (Pony)

[personal profile] lunar_princess 2024-03-25 03:25 pm (UTC)(link)
[Oh, she hadn't expected the predatory edge to her grin, but instead of turning her off from the challenge it's instead making her more excited at the prospect. Perhaps she is someone that could be a real challenge for her.]

I would think so, I am certainly no stranger to combat or competitions, for that matter. I do hope that we cross paths, it'd be rather... dull otherwise, I think. [Especially considering some people here only learned about weaponry and how to fight once they got to the castle and a few seasons of fighting is absolutely nothing compared to having done it for years upon years.]

... Trilla, was it? I recall hearing your name from others. [Someone listens and does her homework.]
inquisitorium: (and i'd be lying)

[personal profile] inquisitorium 2024-05-05 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
[ Trilla's either going to love this girl or hate her; she can't tell which just yet, but a true challenge is appealing enough to tip her just slightly in a more positive direction... for now. ]

And you pay attention, too.

[ Trilla gives her sword a casual twirl, more of an outlet for excess energy than any sort of showing off. ]

I fear you have the advantage on me there; I haven't caught your name.

[ She'd have to actually want to know other people to have learned that. ]

Seasonal Murder

[personal profile] bartenderizing 2024-03-21 09:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Shizuo had been between the crowds and the body, trying to send off some of the people that absolutely didn't need to be around. The newer novices, those trying to get too close a look because of their curiosity (that one was literally chucked far away from the area,) but paused when hearing that. Looking over, he doesn't make any comments about the dead apprentice, not specifically.

"... Go on then, go to the front of the gawkers and take one step closer," there was a clear point they weren't supposed to go past, with the large sword that was in the ground. "Not everything that's prepared for can be used right away. Tell me something that would've helped her live."

It's more a check to see what she's learned, unsure of what the novices were getting taught these days. Or it's a lesson that's about to hit. Who knew with a Black Court youngblood? For a paranoid thought.
inquisitorium: (from birth we've been)

[personal profile] inquisitorium 2024-03-22 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
"Far be it from me to interfere with an active investigation," she responds with an air of disdain that is at least somewhat genuine. She doesn't believe for a second that the woman's murderer isn't already known; surely the older Youngbloods had suspicions, and Council Members? She can't believe that any of this is for more than show.

"Knowing her enemies, for one."

Or not making any to begin with, but Trilla's not naive enough to believe that was ever an option for this particular apprentice.
bartenderizing: (Adult 43)

[personal profile] bartenderizing 2024-03-22 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
For a moment he wondered if she saw what happened to the last person that went past the sword, and assumed that it was a dare. Either way, if she decided not to, that was also fine. Whether things were really known or not... Well, its not as if anyone expects that to be shared.

"In this kind of place, it doesn't have to be an enemy. It could be nothing personal to her specifically. There's one other person's enemies a novice has to consider," and it's not even said in one of those 'bzzt wrong' kind of ways. Just an expansion for that line of thought. Though in this case, being aware might not have been enough. "Try something else."
inquisitorium: (Default)

[personal profile] inquisitorium 2024-05-05 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
It's more that Trilla doesn't want to draw negative attention to herself when there's a murderer on the loose. She's secure in her ability to defend herself in a fair fight, but she's well aware that she's no match for a fully-fledged vampire, should Black Court be back on the killer's list sooner than later.

"If her Maker failed to warn her of potential enemies, that's a particularly glaring oversight. But she was new to the castle; she wasn't a novice here in the past few seasons. Perhaps she simply hadn't been here long enough to know better."

It made sense; there were the occasional rogue vampires, after all. If Silvea had been turned recently by one of them, she wouldn't have had the benefit of training as the others here had.

Well you don't look fine, darling.

[ Astarion makes it a point to never care about the novices. He doesn't care about Trilla, he assures himself, even as he moves a little closer.

Founders help him her blood smells so good, though.

Not the point, actually!! Nope, he's focusing. ]

Also, you're coughing up flowers.
inquisitorium: (i could be like you)

[personal profile] inquisitorium 2024-03-22 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
[ Some of the obvious tension leaves Trilla's posture when she realizes it's only Astarion. Someone more genuinely caring might've been too much for her at present, but there's a certain comfort to be had in their peculiar sort of back-and-forth. ]

Whatever would I do without you here to state the obvious?

[ She sounds awful, her voice raspy from continued coughing -- but she manages her usual dryly amused tone nonetheless. ]

Apparently the plants are out of control again; this time happens to be incredibly unpleasant.
subigito: (110)

[personal profile] subigito 2024-03-24 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
Your life would be much more boring.

[ This is, in fact, not a question. It is a statement. Astarion is 100% sure of this. ]

So I've heard. You can cure it by giving into your desires, but you're not exactly well-versed in those, are you?

[ Insulting someone is how you flirt with them right? Good lord this man teaches seduction. ]
inquisitorium: (or demise)

[personal profile] inquisitorium 2024-03-24 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
[ The first remark draws a wry almost-smile out of her; she can't exactly argue that. She flicks some bloodstained white petals to the floor in annoyance and rolls her eyes in mild exasperation. ]

Really, Astarion? Does now seem like the best time to follow this increasingly predictable exchange to its inevitable conclusion?

[ Look, this approach happens to work for Trilla, but that doesn't mean she's going to be able to stop coughing long enough to get to the sexy parts. ]
subigito: (120)

"By prepared, you mean like prepared for getting attacked at random?"

Ava's default tone can sound a little sassy, but the inquiry is serious. At least, serious in the sense that if anybody has a smart-sounding forensic idea, she's interested. The bodies are starting to pile up.

"Or hey, if it wasn't so random, maybe there's enough victims now to start making connections. Like maybe they both had the same boyfriend!"

Ava doesn't listen to a lotta true crime podcasts, since those don't exist and never have. But she's got the spirit.
inquisitorium: (Default)

[personal profile] inquisitorium 2024-03-25 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
Trilla scoffs at the idea of this being a random killing; clearly something bigger is afoot here. She's starting to believe that it's being allowed to happen as a part of their training, cruel as it might seem. It's easier to believe that than to believe that not even the elder vampires know why these deaths are occurring.

"There must be a pattern; I find it difficult to believe no one with greater knowledge of the victims has spotted it yet."

"Apart from picking a novice from the court whose season it is," Ava notes, mostly thinking out loud. Her nose wrinkles. "That doesn't narrow it town to why her, though."

She sidles slightly closer to Trilla, voice lowering. Ava personally doesn't care about respecting the dead, since it's not like they're around to be offended, but navigating Courtsheart is a little easier when you at least pretend to care about decorum.

"Who was she friends with, do you know? Did she have a boyfriend?"

Flowering Sickness

[personal profile] onebadapple 2024-03-26 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
Snow White seems to be perpetually catching Trilla at the worst of times. But there she was, a gentle hand on Trilla's back, rubbing circles even as Trilla yelled to scream at her. She didn't even flinch as she was being yelled at, though her hand stilled and she pulled it away just a bit.

She reached up, pulled a petal from Trilla's hair, and smiled gently.

"Of course you are, but I was wondering if I could walk with you?" she looked at the blood on her hand from the petal and held it out to Trilla, not sure if she wanted to keep them or not.
inquisitorium: (his foolish decrees)

[personal profile] inquisitorium 2024-03-26 05:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Some of the tension leaves Trilla's posture once she realizes it's only Snow, though it takes her another moment to catch her breath enough to do more than nod a reluctant assent. She reaches for the offending petal and studies it closely; it's a delicate, elongated white oval. Daisies, Trilla recalls dimly, are the flowers of a secret closely kept. How fitting, if a bit inelegant for her tastes. She brushes the petals off her hands with a small huff of frustration and finally looks at Snow.

"Come on, then. I can't train like this, so I suppose it's off to the library to try to get some studying in."

Maybe she ought to try drinking her weight in bloodwine later; a good grade in Revelry and possibly a moment's peace from the hacking cough might be worth the next day's headache.

onebadapple: (Don't be like that)

[personal profile] onebadapple 2024-04-09 03:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Snow watched Trilla for a long moment, the disdain on Trilla's face hard to witness at the offending petal. At least the library would be quiet... but... there were likely plenty of students there as people were finishing up their finals, or returning everything they had borrowed for finals. Still, someplace Trilla could potentially relax was better than nothing at all.

She offered her hand to Trilla.

"With all this studying of late, I've gotten so clumsy with my eyes getting tired, I've bumped into things and the sort," this was an outright lie, and Snow took no pleasure in saying it, however, it would allow Trilla the ability to be 'in command' rather than needing Snow's help. "Will you help me and make sure I don't bump into any other things by not letting go of me?"
inquisitorium: (me too as a poet)

[personal profile] inquisitorium 2024-04-10 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
"Are you certain you don't need the infirmary?"

Trilla looks Snow over with a critical eye. There's some concern there, if one knows her expressions well enough to spot it, but Snow doesn't seem overly tired to her, nor suffering from the awful petal affliction. Trilla hesitates a moment, not wanting to see her name in Whisperfangs' report again for an offering or acceptance of affection, but finally takes Snow's hand with another impatient huff.

"Never mind; come on. And don't be in such a hurry to reveal your weaknesses, next time."

Trilla would still be curled up in her room trying to achieve some rest if she hadn't hoped the infirmary might have something to offer that would get her back to fully functional. She's in such a snit about the entire situation that she doesn't notice that she immediately finds it easier to take a breath as soon as she's taken Snow's hand, and that she doesn't feel quite as near to passing out as they continue onward.

"Oh, not at all," Snow wouldn't head to an infirmary unless someone made her, her actions born out of never having had anyone to depend on for... anything when she didn't feel well, why would she think to start now? So yes, it is a lie, but it's a lie in assistance to Trilla accepting help.

Trilla's critical eye will find nothing wrong, because there is nothing wrong. But the ebony-haired girl smiles bright and warm when Trilla takes her hand.

"I will keep that in mind next time, certainly!" she soothed. "I'm ready to start walking when you are, Trilla!" she offered, knowing that she needed to go at Trilla's pace, especially with the flower problem.

Trilla's too busy trying not to let the lingering tickle in her throat set her off again to argue. The last thing she wants to do is slow down, but Snow's given her an excuse, and for that she's quietly grateful. After a few experimental breaths that don't catch on whatever's blooming in her chest, she nods and sets off with Snow in the direction of the library.

Before they're very far down the hallway, Trilla can tell that her breathing is easier than it's been in days, though the fact of it rankles slightly when she realizes that once again she's dependent upon the attention of another.

"Whatever's wrong with me, I think it gets better with attention from people I -- "

She stumbles over the words a bit, though not for lack of breath.

"People whose company I appreciate."

Heaven forbid you admit to liking someone, Trilla, even just as a friend.
